how i feel about (real) coffee

One thing that's happened since Tony & I bought the coffee machine is that my appreciation for proper barista-brewed coffee has quadrupled.

It's one of the few good things lockdown has given me – greater capacity for appreciation of some things. I'm so used to coffee pods now, but there really is no replacement for a cup made by an expert. Somehow the milk is creamier, the coffee itself is so much more potent... The way the nutty aftertaste lingers on your tongue is one I've missed.

This Sunday morning I happened to go for a walk first thing and found to my delight Taste Baguette in Westfield Hurstville was still open – and still making fresh French pastries(!!). There was a fresh batch of croissants and I couldn't resist taking home a small cappuccino (extra chocolate) and one of the croissants to share with T. 😍

Man... A good croissant is something else. A meal and an experience in and of itself. In lockdown every day has just blended into each other but I've realised that the delight in smaller things can be elevated, too, if you let them.
